The Power of Storytelling

I recently attended the Napa Valley Film Festival, an annual exhibition of the year’s best new independent films.

In addition to enjoying fantastic wine and food, I learned a lot of new things. I discovered people whose lives are connected by typewriters (California Typewriter) and how the ancient process of fermentation is used in modern times (Fermented). There were feature films and shorts, covering everything from secret government experiments to tragic figure skaters.

I was not only struck by the incredible diversity of stories but about the many ways they can be told. I’m fascinated by the power of storytelling, and research shows that humans are hard-wired for storytelling—it’s about collaboration and connection. Stories are how we gain meaning from life.*

The power of stories to connect and give meaning is also true in business. At BumbleBee, we take special pleasure in telling our customer’s stories. Product features and joint value propositions are necessary, but they don’t come alive until they’re turned into stories—told through a wide range of mediums from presentation decks to sell sheets and infographics.

If you’d like us to help you tell your story, give me a call.
